Designing the ASP Sigil / Logo

Quite a few people have shown interest in the elements involved in the ASP Apparel logo design, a personal sigil created by Ashley S. Palmer.

The main elements in the design utilise the Golden ratio. The golden ratio (denoted by the Greek letter phi) is an irrational mathematical constant, approximately 1.6180339887. It has been employed by many artists throughout history for the aesthetically pleasing effect of the proportions of the ratio when applied to design and geometry.

Proving to be a source of intrigue for thousands of years, the golden ratio is even found in the architecture of places of historical importance and beauty such as Stonehenge, The Great Pyramid of Giza and the Parthenon.

This wireframe image shows the construction of the logo and its relationship with the golden ratio, Fibonacci sequence and formation of Trapezoids, Pentagram/gons and Asps (snakes).

ASP Apparel and Underworld Amusements are proud to present: Den of Iniquity Tribute T-shirts!


In the basement of the Black House, Anton Szandor LaVey created the total environment that he felt most at ease in: a seedy dive bar populated by the down and out. But those who populated it were literally his creations, as they were all meticulously crafted artificial humanoids. In the back wall he had a backlit sign reading “Den of Iniquity”, and this new shirt is based on the lettering of that sign. This faux-souvenir lists the address of the former home of the Church of Satan beneath the logo.
A subtle tribute to a man who created his own world.

The alchemical symbol for Brimstone / Sulphur / Sulfur



Satanic Bible
Utilised by Anton Szandor LaVey in The Satanic Bible as the seal above The Nine Satanic Statements, the Brimstone Symbolis now widely associated with Satanism and recognised as a Satanic symbol. Over the years since 1969, versions of this symbol, along with the Sigil of Baphomet, have found their way into the album artwork and merchandise of various black metal and death metal bands inspired by the Satanic aesthetics created by Anton LaVey. Heavy metal Satanist King Diamond is the most notable musician associated with the Brimstone Symboland his logo incorporates it prominently, leading many to refer to it as "the King Diamond Symbol". In recent years the bands Rush and The Lindbergh Baby have also made use of the Brimstone design.

The meaning of the symbol and the reason for its inclusion by LaVey in The Satanic Bible has been interpreted in many ways with much speculation over its significance with Satanism and the The Nine Satanic Statements. A Satanic elucidation of the emblem has been made by artist and Church of SatanMagister Lang, suggesting the symbolic connection to Yggdrasil / the tree of life (stem and branches) and Ouroborous / Leviathan (figure eight at the base).


Intrigued and excited by this enigmatic emblem since first encountering it in The Satanic Bible, we were inspired to create our own unique range of Brimstone Symbol clothing and infernal items.
